Russell Wanot

Russell “Russ” Wanot has a long-standing connection with Hackensack Meridian Southern Ocean Medical Center, the primary hospital for his community. Over the years, he has frequented the center for routine blood work, X-rays and consultations with skilled network practitioners.

“Hackensack Meridian Health gives great service, has excellent nurses and wonderful doctors,” Russ says. “It’s a comfort knowing that I have good care and am in good hands—and so are all my neighbors.”

Russ, a retired Verizon employee and U.S. Army veteran, has always been impressed by the medical center’s progressive, cutting-edge approach to delivering top-notch care. He notes, “They continue to deepen their status as a first-class institution by attracting new talent in the medical profession and introducing new technologies like robotic machines to assist with surgeries.”

In his estate planning journey, Russ prioritized reaching out to the Office of Gift Planning at Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation.

“It’s a local organization that I can give to and feel that my gift will be well spent,” Russ explains. “I can see the help that they’re giving my neighbors today, and I want that to continue.”

Russ directed a generous bequest in his will that will ultimately support Southern Ocean Medical Center.

“My goal is to make a gift that benefits humanity,” Russ says. “It makes me happy to think that I can help make someone’s life easier or better because they were able to get excellent care.”
